Most people don’t do this in their business

As a kid, my mother taught me to say “thank you” whenever someone did something nice for me. It could be as simple as having a door held open, or as personal as receiving a gift.

I’ve been thinking a lot about my mom recently. She passed away several years ago, and all the wonderful lessons I learned from her still resonate with me. The most important is showing gratitude.

This got me thinking about you, and how you give thanks to those who support you and your business.

With the hectic pace of running your business, having time to reflect rarely happens, yet it is essential to your overall state of mind and directly influences the people around you.

When you take time to give thanks, people notice and good things start to happen in mysterious ways. Plus, it makes you feel good inside.

So how do you create gratitude systems to ensure appreciation becomes a habit and a natural extension of your daily routine?

Watch this video where I share 3 things you can start doing right now, to show gratitude in your business.

What to do when your business gets off track

Imagine waking up to find your business has become your worst enemy.

Somehow it has become unrecognizable to you. The vision you had when you first started up has blurred and somehow things have gotten out of your control.

On the outside, it looks like it’s smooth sailing. Business has never been busier, heck you even have a waiting list! What could be wrong?

The thing is … it wasn’t what you ever wanted.

I recently had a conversation with a very busy business owner, who broke down in tears because she was falling out of love with the business she created. She was ready to give up everything because …

The business she had was not the business she ever wanted.

In this video I share three questions to ask yourself … no matter what stage of the business lifecycle you’re in … that will put you back on course.

How to welcome clients into your business

How do you welcome clients into your business?

The reason I ask is because this came up recently when I was working with a client to design and systematize her client onboarding process. She asked me a very interesting question, which I’ll share with you in this video.

The way you make your clients feel is so important to running your business.

Your new clients want confirmation they have made the right choice in selecting you to help solve their problem. Your Client Onboarding process does just that.

It’s an important part of the client experience with you, your company and your brand. It’s your way of greeting new clients, showing them around and making them feel comfortable in your business.

Here are some tips to help you make your clients feel welcome:

Is your business built to SOAR™?

The other day a client said to me,

“Valeri, some days operating my business feels like I’m running in mud!”

That image stuck with me, and I thought about how true it is. Sometimes running your business can be a chore. If you are feeling frazzled and frustrated by your business, let’s make a change.

I believe you can design your business so it’s built to SOAR™. This means your business is:

Systematized – with the inner workings streamlined and documented so delegating is effortless.

Optimized – with all the operational details organized so everything runs efficiently.

Automated – with the right tech tools in place so the heavy lifting gets done 24/7.

Repeatable – with consistent best practices implemented so you feel in control.

Sounds dreamy doesn’t it?

Watch this video where I share my take on making this dream come true for you.

Here’s to building your efficient business!

How to be less available in your business

What I’m going to share with you may seem counter-intuitive to you and even impossible. You may say to yourself,  “Valeri, being less accessible to the outside world is crazy. I have clients who require my attention, prospects that may disappear if I don’t respond immediately, and people who just plain need me.”

I get it. I’ve been there and I work with many clients who initially have the same concerns.

Watch this video where I’ll share why you may want to shift the accessible 24/7 habit.

You may be in an industry that requires you to be accessible at all times. Your livelihood may depend on being the first to respond to prospects. Perhaps you’ve built a reputation as always being available. If this is you, then that is a deal you have made with your business. [Read more…]

30 powerful messages to help you work + live better

30 powerful messages to help you work + live betterHave you ever gone to an event and been blown away by the people, speakers and content? You arrive back into the real world, motivated, inspired and renewed.

I’m still on the post-conference high from the Women in Leadership + Business Conference, where I was asked to speak on productivity. For two days I was in the company of thought leaders, game changers and motivators.

While this is by no means a comprehensive list, it gives you a glimpse into some powerful messages that will inspire you to work (and live) better. [Read more…]

how to make your clients feel at homeThis past weekend was my Dad’s 99th birthday … yes, he was 70 when I was born! (wink, wink)

Because we were travelling from out-of-town to attend the celebration, we decided to rent a house.

We arrived and the house was lovely. It was out in the country, surrounded by trees and rolling hills. As we settled in, things took a turn for the worse. [Read more…]

How I wasted 140 minutes: the case for customer service systems

This is a story about wasted time. You know … those minutes you’ll never get back. And it’s wasted because nothing useful happens during those minutes, which quickly turn into hours. You probably didn’t even relax because you were so stressed you were wasting time.

Here’s my tale of woe

It began the moment I wanted to scan multiple pages with my new scanner. Easy right? That’s what I though too. It turned out, it wasn’t as straightforward as I would have expected. Don’t get me wrong, I love my new scanner, it’s just this little issue that I needed to figure out. How hard could it be? I was about to find out. [Read more…]
